In India, there has been more and more of an increase in urbanization of cities due to a larger population. As new cities are being created, Amitabh Kant is making the need to include art and culture into these new cities a priority. She said that as cultural institutions are formed, artists can bring these new cities to life which will spark an environment for inspiration and provide a better quality of life. That is the biggest point of creating Smart Cities in India; the mission is to support more opportunities which will form creative industries in India and start the economic growth that the country so desperately needs. Once this is started, the hope is that they will be like no other city in the world which will start a unique cultural identity and promote its historic significance as a city. Kant continues to explain that without art and culture in these advanced and developed cities with new techonlogy, the cities will have an unbalanced environment for development.
My thoughts on the article is that I think it's incredible that these cities are being made in the first place. With a growing population and poverty rate, seeing how the world can come together to support this cause is truly amazing. Not only that, but I think it's awesome how India is creating these cities while trying to embrace their original culture to create a better working environment for everyone used to the practices and customs of the culture. It really is brilliant.
This article ties to the culture of the country because it demonstrates how the people there are tied closely to their culture and don't want to lose it. Based on what Kant was trying to promote, it shows how the people of India want to be linked to their cultural identity which is the attitude for them to continue to progress as a country.
